Merry Christmas!

So cute just before bedtime on Christmas Eve. I made pj's for their animals that matched the ones I made each girl.

they liked their skirts that I made them. I'm go glad (they have good twirling ability, I'm told)

Little Bit as Mary, the angel wouldn't hold still long enough for a picture. LIttle Bit kept her costume on for quite a while after the "manager scene" Hopefully I'll got those pictures soon!

A few pictures from our holiday. We went to the Mayor's parents house on Wednesday, or should I say shuttled there by the Mayor's dad because we couldn't drive anywhere in our cars! Too much snow! Thank goodness for the Subaru! Shortly after getting there, we got a call that our power was out. I'm told be neighbors that it was off and on through out the night and into the next afternoon. We came home around 3 on Christmas Day and had power and enjoyed another round of opening presents. On Christmas morning at about 3 am I kept hearing someone saying "mom, mom, mom - is it morning yet?" NO GO BACK TO SLEEP I wanted to say! Instead, no not yet, go back to sleep. But alas, sleep was not to be had for another hour or so. Finally they went to sleep around 4:30 and slept til their cous' was up and ready to go! Little Dude was happy to get up, I think Little Bit would have slept for another hour at least - she had very little sleep during the night, but she was woken up too - we didn't want to leave her downstairs by herself. The girls are still catching up on their sleep. And the snow is finally melting! Before the rain began, the drifts on either side of the driveway were as tall as the Mayor...close to 2 1/2 - 3 feet maybe in the non-drifts. Today the snow is wet and icy and and the roads are a mess. So we are still stuck at home. And my house still looks as though a small hurricane went through it. Ahhh the joys of Christmas!

Here are a few more pictures of the girls playing in the snow. We had fun yesterday sliding down our big hill which Little Dude is sitting on top of. I just can't believe how much is out there. We are supposed to get more tonight.

SNOW!!!!!

We have lots of it. We managed to make it through the weekend without losing our power for more than a minute or two at a time. But the snow - it has piled up high! It is well over 2 feet deep and that isn't where the Mayor has piled up the snow from the driveway or in the drifts. The drift/snowpile next to the drive way is over Little Dude's head and makes a great sledding hill for them. I would like to try one of the hills in on the surrounding streets, but I don't they are up to that! The Mayor went to work today with our neighbor in his "big" truck - they are on their way home now. I actually saw a snowplow at the end of our street today. He didn't come by our house, by was in the neighborhood! I didn't see the mail come yet - so much for their through wind, rain, sleet or snow. We've been getting it about every other day or so...I sure hope to get some mail on Wed, Christmas presents are supposed to come that day. I'll have some new pics to post soon.

I think Little Dude will have 3 weeks off of school for Christmas. She hasn't had school all week. I don't think she'll go tomorrow. The first two days were because school was 2 hours late(snow and icy roads), so no morning Kindergarten. Wednesday school was cancelled because it *might* snow - it didn't . I was slightly annoyed that school was cancelled for snow that was supposed to fall during the night and never came.... Today we woke up to more than 8 inches this morning(on top of the Mayor's car) and it is still snowing. With all the ice everywhere lately, and Little Dude asking if she could ice skate on one of those drainage ponds that had a layer of ice over the top, (NO WAY!!!) it reminded me of a time when I was younger and we lived in North Dakota. (we still had to go to school in the snow - I don't remember it being cancelled very often. I do remember walking home in the snow.) My brother and I would jump off the second story deck into the snow below - until we got caught. At school they would flood the ball fields so they would freeze and we could ice skate during PE and recess. I loved living there. It rarely gets this cold in the Pacific Northwest. We enjoyed candycane hot chocolate and mini cupcake donuts when we came inside today. Now to start the holiday baking...

It's a party and SNOW!

So it seems that if I plan a birthday party for Little Dude, we get a storm. Two years ago, it was a winde storm and we had no power for a week. Well, yesterday we had her birthday party and we got lots of snow! Most of it fell after the party was over, but it all started on Friday night...there was that chance of it coming earlier in the day, but we got away with just a duting until after the party. This morning, the girls went out to play in the snow. Little Bit actually liked it this year, in the past she has just stood there and cried. It's supposed to stay cold for a while...long enough for a white Christmas???? I hope so!

Crazy Hair Day!!!!

yep - it was crazy hair day today at school --- this is what we came up with. And a "crazy" pose to go along with the hair. Lots of braids looped with the ends sticking out all over the place. Silly girl!

Turkey Day

We have lots to be thankful for, as always. Tonigth for FHE we tried to teach the girls that one way to show our thanks is to give back to others who might not be as fortunate. As we went into a local store and choose a tag from the giving tree, we tried to explain what it meant and why we were doing what we were doing. Does this all make sense to them I wondered????? Then from the back seat I hear - "Mom, will our names be on the tree?" Nope - I guess we didn't explain that so well. We'll talk about it more tomorrow and hopefully everyday as Christmas draws near. I really want my children to understand what Christmas is all about - not the toy catalogs that can't be put away soon enough or long enough. I want them to have a love for giving and helping others. I want them to really see others as the Lord sees them. I want them to love to give more than they love to receive. I want them to have hope and believe in Santa, not because of the toys, but because of the feelings of love and joy that comes with "Santa". I want them to enjoy giving like Santa does. Maybe they are a little young....
