still catching up - Easter

the Mayor in the background watching his hard work of hiding all those eggs be undone in just a few minutes.

one in hand, crawling for the next one. No more plastic eggs for Carson! He cut his gums on one when he put a whole egg in his mouth and got it stuck there. silly boy!

nice climbing Samantha!

Everyone was even dressed and ready to go to church with the exception of Sam, might as well take a few pics. More to come next week when everyone (hopefully) is dressed in their Easter best.

well, once again the family did not make it to church on Easter Sunday - we are cursed! It's been at least 3-4 years since we have all been to church on Easter Sunday. Someone is always sick, and i jinxed it this year on Saturday night, by telling the Mayor how glad I was that we were all healthy. ugh - Sam woke up super cranky and spent most of the morning in the bathroom. another uti. pawpaw called in a prescription for her, and I was going to stay home with her while the Mayor went to pick it up. but by the time the pharmacy opened and got it filled, we just headed out to Marmar and Pawpaw's for a yummy dinner.

On Friday we had an egghunt at a friend's house and then on Saturday at Marmar's (it was so nice outside!)- the girls had so much fun finding eggs. They got to find almost 100 eggs, all by themselves, well, mostly by them selves - Carson found 3. And we were missing two in the end...maybe Willow will find them.

catching up

he is the cutest little boy ever!!!

he got a ball pit for his bday (needs more balls)

loves to be involved - in everything!

Carson is one! Can you believe it - I can't. He took a couple steps on his own this past Sunday and couple more this week. It won't be long 'til he is running everywhere.

Sharing

a while ago I mentioned my sis-in-law started a new blog - icandy homemade, she has a great give away going on right now. Go check it out, but don't enter cause I want to win!!!! :) just kidding!

in other news - I made Sydney a skirt for easter - she saw a picture of a skirt, but I was too cheap to pay for a pattern when I was sure it wasn't that hard to make. So this is my version of the skirt she saw....the layers should be a little closer together, but over all, it's pretty darn cute if I do say so myself! I made Sam a dress - I'll share that later. Carson will most likely get a bowtie, cause those are easy! :) Just need to find a coordinating fabric for him that isn't too girly!

spring break

she refused to wear the baseball pants - so she selected her black leggings with sparkles - so typically Sam!
Chad and Ben and the little boys
Ashley with the first clam

spring break consisted of playing t-ball in the rain turned sleet turned SNOW! poor Sam, she was so cold! Then the next day we went to Westport with the Lambs to dig razor clams. It was a fun trip!

look out uncle Brandon!

this one is a mean Monopoly player! She wins every time. And no, I don't let her win. And she even knows how to be the banker. And she has an evil laugh when she takes your money. (she's blue and quickly filled the board with blue ticket booths after this pic - just look at all that money next to her! my pile is bottom right of the picture - 1's and 2's - that's it folks!)

lunchtime discussions

the conversation over mac-n-cheese at lunchtime today:
Sam - what are apples made out of?
her friend - what are trees made out of? ms Katie, what are trees made out of?
me - Heavenly Father created them.
her friend - what was Jesus made of?
Sam - bones
her friend - and blood
Sam - but how does the skin stick to the blood to keep it inside?

Thursdays are good.

Lately I have been getting a lot done on Thursdays. Once Sydney leaves for piano at 7:30, I have nothing else on the schedule. Carson has been playing/holding this little scrap of fabric (see the aqua piece) for about an hour now - he's pretty funny to watch.

Today I made this for Sydney - she's been asking me to make a skirt for her for months - I put it off because I wasn't sure what I wanted it to look like. It's hard to see in the picture - but those are little pleats along the bottom. I was inspired by this skirt, Syd didn't want it too twirly, so I didn't make it as wide as I have in the past. I hope she likes it and wears it. :)
I also finished this table runner - inspired by this. I {heart} the mushroom fabric! I used a raw edge binding on it and i love it! Can't wait to wash it.

the over rated hallmark holiday

I'm typically not a fan of the most recent holiday, but something came over me yesterday and I joined in on the pink fun. We had heart haped pink pancakes with strawberries and pink whip cream for breakfast, the Mayor got the girls flowers for their hair (to go with their heart shaped braids) and a beautiful orchid lei for me. (what a sweetie!) After school we took chocolate covered cinnamon bears (also known as hugs) to marmar and pawpaw (forgot the kisses - sorry) and then had a yummy dinner that involved lots of red items. the girls loved drinking out of "wined" glasses - shirley temples - "wow mom!" came out of someone's mouth :) and I went over the top cheesey with valentine's for the Mayor. All in all - it was a good day in spite of it being "that" holiday!

who knew...

lunch in a muffin tin would make miss Samantha so happy! She is perfectly giddy eating her lunch (she had already eaten the mini pepperonis when I took this pic - hence one empty spot).

New Shoes!

My cute s-i-l, Autie, (who has the cute new blog) made Carson the best shoes ever! They stay on his feet and are really cute. However with his "toe" crawl he has worn holes in them - so sad! So she sent me the pattern and I made him some new ones - they went together so quick and easy - I can't wait to make another pair! I used grey cordoroy for this pair - I have some grey brown suede-type fabric for the next! Thanks Aut!
I can't get the picture to rotate - sorry!

new blog

Check out my s-i-l, Autie's new blog, icandy. She is uber talented and has a ton of fun ideas. There is a give away going on, so go check it out!

what i've been up to

Isn't he cute!!!!

Pictures taken by Syd or maybe Sam- sorry for the blur. :)

besides eating whole bag of cherry cordial m&m's and sour cherry balls by myself, I've been doing a little crafting here and there. I have a goal to complete one project each month. I may start several, but I'm trying to complete at least one! :) So in January - I made a cute skirt for a friend's little girl (I trade with her for music lessons for my daughter), but forgot to take a picture and I made several fun watch bands (tutorial from Cluck, Cluck Sew - except I was having issues with the snaps, so I resorted to velcro). The orange and flower watch face are mine, the blue one is hers, along with the brown watch band. I'm sure she'll get a few more :) I started a pair of shoes for Carson because the ones my s-i-l made him (my fav's) now have holes in the toes because he crawls with his toes, not his knees. I also completed a quilt top from the cute fabric Carson gave me for Christmas (he picked good!), still need to quilt it though. Looking back - not too bad!

Carson also decided he didn't like sitting anymore - so now he stands. He pulls himself up on everything and has also learned to climb up the stairs - hmmm, who could have taught him that? I found this last picture on my camera. Thanks Syd!

January

It's been a pretty busy month! So in no particular order - Sam turned 5!!!! She requested a yellow cake, with chocolate frosting and pink roses - oh and the picture was of a 4 layer cake! We ended up with a two layer - just as yummy! I dabbled in making the frosting roses and, she loved them and that is all that matters!
Sydney had two teeth pulled last week - not such a fun time at the dentist. She had an infection under one that already had a root canal done on it and the other one had an adult tooth behind it that was wearing away at the baby tooth - they happen to be right next to each other! So now she has a rather large gap in her mouth on the bottom. She's now lost 10 teeth! only 6 adult teeth have come in. I asked her if she would like to eat Carson's food since chewing is a little difficult.
I took the kids in my co-op preschool to Marmar and Pawpaw's for "L" day to see the llamas. I think the kids all liked Willow more than the llamas - but it was fun! One little boy kept asking where Boo Boo was - he had met her this past summer and wanted to see her again! We can't wait for her to come back in the spring!
Carson dislikes wearing a bib - very much! He pulls and pulls at it until he gets it off - silly boy! He is crawling everywhere now and pulling himself up on anything he can get a grip on. He says "mmmmommmm", "dadadadadadadada", "ssssssss" and all sorts of other sounds. He's pretty cute!
