SO MUCH FUN!

We took the girls to Disneyland last week and had so much fun! They loved playing with their cousin Max and LOVED Disneyland. Of course the favorites were the princesses - we stood in line for over an hour to meet three unknown princesses...they block your view so you don't know who you will get to meet...we met Ariel, Sleeping Beauty and Jasmine. Although Ariel was the girl's favorite going in, she wasn't as personable as Aurora and therefore Aurora is now the fav. Little Bit's favorite ride was the spinning teacups and the Ladybugs (same as the teacups only you can't make them spin faster) I think Little Dude would agree with the teacups, although she did ride a BIG rollercoaster at SeaWorld and liked that. We had so much fun - thanks Aut and Jeff and Max for letting us stay with you! We loved it! We had fun at the beach, once in the morning before Disney and once in the evening for a bonfire. we also went to seaworld and the San Diego Wild Animal park (which was a let down after hearing it's praises) over it was a wonderful trip - the weather was perfect - about 70 - perfect for jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops!

We had a fun Valentine's Weekend, on Friday afternoon the girls and I made cinnamon rolls and delivered them to some of our friends. Saturday morning, we had cinnamon rolls with pink frosting and strawberries for breakfast. For dinner a heart shaped pizza, rootbeer, and valentine's candy. I had planned to make each of the girls a heart shaped chocolate cake, but with all the candy they got, I skipped it. They didn't miss it at all and it will funt o make them another time when they least expect it. I have never liked valentine's day - I've always thought it was on over-rated hallmark holiday. Even when I got married, it still wasn't a great holiday - we celebrated it cause we felt liek we had to??? But this year, it was fun, the girls were so excited to make valentines for their friends and we've been reading lots of valentine books. It was fun to make everything pink or heart shaped. I even find myself looking forward to it next year - what new fun things will we do - what did we do this year that can be carried over to other holidays (maybe cinnamon rolls???? I used two super easy recipes - yep I made a lot of cinnamon rolls - green tinted frosting for St. Patty's day?, blue or an assortment of pastels for easter? it could go on and on! Thanks Aut and Joanne for the recipes!)

busy busy busy!

So I should be doing other things - like making the valentine's for Little Dude's class party on Thursday, finishing a chore chart for a friend who is paying me to do it, cleaning my house.... the list goes on and on, but I havne't been doing those things. I've been sewing...cute and easy dresses. Sewing isn't always cheaper then what you can buy in the store - it's just more fun and my girls love it when I make them soemthing. Little Bit picked out her material for her dress - can you tell. I would not have picked that - but she loves it and that is all that matters. Little Dude was at school so I got to pick out her material and selected the cherries. I love cherries. Can you tell she didnt' want her picture taken? She was busy playing a game on the computer and didn't want to be interrupted (but notice the raised toe - she couldnt' not pose for a picture!) Little Bit loves to pose for pictures and Little Dude just had to jump in that first picture. The shirts don't always match, but that's because they are so excited to wear what I make them - they just have to put it on RIGHT NOW! :) funny girls! Anyway the skirt was supposed to be for valentine's day, but I guess they will get them a little early.

it's been a while

This was my attempt at birthday pictures....the girls weren't so coorperative this time around. I think I'll try again when I can take the girls outside.

Cute yes, what I was hoping for, no.

my baby

blowing out the candles (yep I made that crown cake all by myself...no crown cake mold pan needed here)

modeling her new dress ups

her new robe

her birthday donut and tea party with a friend in the morning

my baby is three...that makes her not a baby anymore. But she still loves to cuddle, (as evidenced by her refusing to sleep in her own bed last night and smothering me all night - I think I've developed claustraphobia - but that's another story)she is still sweet as can be - although she does give her big sis a run for her money, she still loves to be with mom and dad. She refuses to hold someones hand while crossing the street, she can do it herself she tells me. her hair is soooooooo long (she tells me this just about every morning while i brush her hair). she can "do" play-doh by herself and it keeps her occupied for hours! she also loves to color. she is beginning to like to read books, but more than two and she is off to play. They grow up so quickly...i wish i could keep her at this age for a while...

just a little extra water....

Yep - it has flooded again...this time our little town has become an island. No way in and no way out. All four roads (yep there are only 4) leading in/out of town are flooded. I'm hearing that it will be a day or two before the first one will open. All of the snow melted into this, along with the warmer weather and rain in the mountains and we get record high flood levels. in 2006, we had high waters and they (who is they anyway!?) said it was 100 year high floods - we won't see another one this high for another 100 years. Guess what folks, it's only been 2 years and this one is higher.
Woodinville-Duvall Road...under water. This was mid-day and I'm told it got much higher. All that debris against the guardrail usually isn't there. I have no idea how much lower the ground is on the non-road side, but it is quite a bit lower than the road
That's a lot of water! We saw a muskrat (we think) swimming around as we walked over the bridge here. I hope those people got out ok.

This isn't a great pic, I hope the Mayor got a better one, but see that power line behind the girls, in the middle of the picture, it was swinging in the water.

We are hoping for the sun to come out tomorrow! (The girls have been singing that song for a few days now) I could really do without this crazy weather. Little Dude has now missed 9 days of school. Since Dec 11th, she has only been in school for 2 days, she ws only supposed to have a two week break! She will be in school all summer at the rate we are going! She wants so much to go to school, she misses her friends and learning. We try to keep up and continue homework at home, but well, there is a reason that I'm not a teacher! Hopefully next week will bring us normal weather and a normal school week!

What?????

Ok - i thought this only happened if you had a brother. My girls don't have a brother and yet -this keeps happening! I'm not sure why or how - but this is two barbies in two days... I think I'm going to take away *my* barbies that I have out for them to play with - they can break their own barbies! (did you know that today's barbie is fatter than the ones I played with? it's true - the clothes I had for my old barbies are a little small on today's barbie)
Other tidbits from today - Little Bit has decided she only likes her noodles "n*ked" what's up with that - I made stuffed shells (one of my favorites and often requested by Little Dude, but I don't make them often) and she asked for a n*ked one. Um, ok I guess.
Little Dude was sent home early (ok, early for the rest of the school and late for her) due to the flooding.... so this means that she stays for lunch (usually she doesn't), I didn't send a lunch with her because I didn't know until after she was on her way to school about the "emergency half day closure" So after talking with a friend who had called the school, I took a lunch to her(following the directions the school gave to my friend). Guess what - she came home with it - the sub didn't let/take/know/whatever get the kiddos lunch! Um, something isn't right with that...all the other children at the school got to eat lunch, these little kindergartners didn't get to, now they weren't starving, they do get a morning snack, but if the rest of her class is like my little one, she eats as soon as she gets home. she came home an hour later than normal and was hungry. So i'm guess I'm not really concerned that she didn't get lunch at school, just that somehow, I think something failed - some point of communication. What if it was something bigger. I think somehow a lot of communication was lacking - maybe this is how it works and i'll get used to it, but she's my first little one at school! I don't know all the protocols people! Someone at the school was calling parents, but I wasn't home - I didn't get a call on my cell and the Mayor didn't get a call, what if I didn't know. Why don't they call a secondary number that is listed? I know that is a lot of phone calls....but, ok - i'm done with this subject, I won't go on.
first came the snow and now the rains and the flooding... great. so far 2 of the 4 ways out of town are flooded...the others 'might' according to the city website close tonight. will we be an island again? no way in - no way out??????? hmm - we are good on groceries for while...
Have a most wonderful evening if you've stayed with me through all that!
