Potty Training - Day one - a success - no accidents since we put the underwear on this morning!!! I *think* she gets it. I didn't even have to bride with treats! We'll see how tomorrow goes. Way to go Little Bit!
***I spoke too soon! but she is still doing great! Just a little distracted with friends over for dinner and a Back to School Bash for her sis.*****
We met Little Dude's teacher tonight and she seems really nice. She lives just down the street from where Marmar and Pawpaw are moving (small world). Little Dude can't wait to start kindergarten - although today she did ask if we could visit her preschool teacher from last year.

hair!
I love this blog http://shedoeshair.blogspot.com/ she has great ideas, (yes I need the help) and has great links to other great hair blogs. Sometimes I remember to take pictures of their hair when we play, sometimes I don't. This was the result yesterday for church. Little bit wouldn't hold still long enough for a good shot, but she looked so cute with her hair up. Little Dude held still a long time (30 minutes at least) for this hair do, definately not a school day style, but it was fun. Some things I learned along the way, wet hair is better, wet hands are not. for shorter hair, you have to make shorter ponytails - make them closer together or once the little girl sits in the car on the way to church they'll fall out.

a morning conversation
Little Bit: Dad, you need to give me a kiss
The Mayor: I said I am not leaving yet I need to make a sandwich, cause I am working on the railroad all day long (yes I'm sure he was singing this last part)
Little Dude: no you are not
Little Bit: Papa Russ is

a personal best..
so it isn't earth shattering, but I did it. I ran/walked a personal best for a 5K this morning. 37.18 was my time - I was hoping for under 39 and I did it! Yipee for me! I even ran, ok a more like a jog, but i ran about half of it. my knee is a little sore and I have a feeling I'll be limping around for a day or two, but I did it!

It's the little things
little things like learning how to barbque so I don't have to wait for the Mayor to get home to start dinner. I made the yummiest ribs last night. I boiled them in rootbeer first for about 5 minutes and then put them on the grill and basted with a really yummy sauce. I did it all by myself - which is a HUGE feat for me. I'm afraid of the grill. I've had friends/ neightbors have bad accidents with the grill/propane tanks. But I love grilled food. My dad is a master griller - and well, I decided this week to not be afraid anymore. Granted I am using the grill that my parents left when they moved, umm 8 years ago and I have no idea how long they had it before they left. It's ummm, seen better days. However we have a brand new grill just sitting in the garage - it's been sitting there for a couple of months. The mayor got it for his birthday. I'm not sure why it is still in the garage and not being used, but until he decides to use it...there it stays.
Another happy little thing - my cupcakes. Mmmmmm - they were yummy. Mint chocolate chip and chocolate with cream cheese frosting. A not so happy thing about the cupcakes, Little dude was found stealing cupcakes. I'm not sure how many she had today... at least three. I was working on my sharing time and she climbed up onthe counter to get to them. I thought if they were covered, she wouldn't touch them. I told her they were for a family who just had a baby. Sorry, Joanne, there aren't enough left anymore. Not that I can totally blame her for that, but I left enough for them, just no extras! The cupcakes are now hidden out of sight. Hopefully she didn't see where I put them. I found her hiding under the desk licking off just the frosting and throwing the "cake" away. Oh - what to do! She was so cute - it was hard to scold her.

Six Word Memoir Tag
Six Word Memoir Tag
Ernest Hemingway once bet ten dollars that he could sum up his life in six words. His words were- For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.
Here are the rules of this tag:
1. Write your own six word memoir.
2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.
3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post and to this original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
4. Tag five more blogs with links.
5. And don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play!
Are ya kidding me? Now what?
This could apply to so many different situations of my life right now. But for now, it is - now what has Little Bit been into? How in the world did she reach that? Did you eat the whole bag? How did you get that? She is wearing me out. I know I shouldn't complain. . . Autie - you inspire me - but man, keeping up with her is tough. Things are really are good - I wouldn't trade her or her sister for any other child in the world. They bring me so much joy - more than I ever thought possible, and I love them so much. But I'm tired. The thought of being in a car for 2 and 1/2 weeks is scaring me - I'm trying to be as prepared as possible..I hope I feel that way once we start our trip. I am really looking forward to seeing so much of our family! Not far away and I have lots to do!
