April 1st

Rice krispie treats rolls around gummy worms and wrapped in fruit by the foot.

Little Debie's strawberry shortcake rolls with "caviar" blackberry/raspberry candies on top

chocolate rolls with frosting and chopped peach-o's and gummy worms on top.

My friend and I co-chair the PTA Recogintion Position for the elementary. For April Fool's, we made boxes of sushi for the teachers - faux sushi/dessert sushi/ whatever you want to call it. It was so fun to see their reactions. We put them in a chinese take out box with chopsticks on top, and a cute note about how much we appreciate them.

Easter

A fun egg hunt on Saturday with friends

We had a fun Easter this year -- the Bunny did something new - he hid the girls' baskets. He left clues inside marked eggs that sent them on a scavenger hunt throughout the house. Little Dude loved it - Little Bit just wanted to find the eggs she kept seeing. We made a different bunny cake this year... last year the cake wasn't so yummy - Dad, I need some help! We took one to some friends, and ate the other. I added a little bit of raspberry jam between the two layers of cake - just a hint of raspberry came through - yum!

Getting ready

We've been busy getting ready for the baby. We painted his room and have it pretty much all set up - there are a few things missing, but there is still time. And just in case anyone is wondering, no we haven't picked a name, no we don't even have a list that we like yet, it's not even that we can't agree on a name, we just can't find one that either of us likes. I've been busy sewing, a stack of burp cloths, wash cloths (I love flannel wash cloths for a baby - they are super soft), a nursing cover, which the girls were grossed out by when i told them what it was - silly girls!

Blankets - I made the four flannel ones, the cute orange/green with turtles was made by my friend Jill.

today I made a diaper bag - I love it. I think it will be the perfect size. It has 5 pockets inside and 5 outside. I even put a zipper in - correctly - on the first try! I wish I would have moved the stripe down on the front, but oh well. I found the pattern here.

the front

the back

Last month I made a quilt, I love it - the actual quilting isn't the best, but I love the fabrics and the pattern which I found here - I just made mine smaller.

Horses

A couple weeks ago, we went out to the Ranch to visit Marmar and Pawpaw - Pawpaw's co-worker brought her horses over and let the girls take a ride. Little Dude LOVED it! Little Bit was enjoying it until the horse saw the llamas and gave a little shake and she almost fell off. She did a great job holding on tight, but bonked her chin on the saddle horn. I wasn't sure she would get back on, but eventually she did with Karen and went for a longer ride. Little Dude could not get enough - she even rode by herself on a longish ride! What a fun surprise!

table runner

why do I make table runners? because they are quick and I can ususally complete them in one day, sometimes two. I love this one - it brightens up the room without being overly bright. I used leftover fabric from a kindle cover that I made for my mom. I didn't have any large pieces left, so I pieced the back as well. I found the pattern on Moda Bakeshop. I didn't quilt it the same as she did - I did a loopy zig zag on each row.

A birthday

Little Bit turned 4 last week, she had a little party during preschool (she wanted chocolate muffins for her treat). I think her favorite present(s) were the birthday $$ that she was just so sure she was going to get because her sister got some for her birthday. For her birthday dinner she wanted chocolate milk, chocolate milk shakes, chicken nuggets, cooked carrots with green sprinkles (dill) and for dessert, brownies and hot chocolate. Do you think she LOVES chocolate? we had the chocolate milk and brownies and skipped the rest of the chocolate items :) She is such a fun and silly girl. She is always, always making funny faces, or hiding and jumping out trying to scare you. She usually wears her heart on her sleeve which results in tears. Her sister is her BFF with Paige being a close second. She is learning to write her name - her whole name. She loves learning and is doing really well with numbers and the alphabet. She is excited to be a big sister to her "wittle brudda". She is the opposite of her sister at this age, she loves jeans and won't wear anything else (her sis would only wear skirts). She loves to snuggle with mom in the mornings, and eat cookie dough more than the finished product! We love her so much.
